Posted

A man committed suicide near 21st and Glenrosa avenues Friday night during a Phoenix police investigation into the homicide of a 31-year-old woman, authorities said.

A shooting occurred about 9 p.m. Sept. 29 near 900 West Alta Vista Road where police found a man and woman who had been shot.

Both were taken to a hospital where the woman, Monica Ornelas, was pronounced dead. The man suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Phoenix homicide detectives took over the investigation and said witnesses identified a suspect, Juan Solorio-Menera, 39.

Patrol officers and tactical units continued to investigate and were led to a house near 21st Avenue and Glenrosa Avenue where Solorio-Menera was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and pronounced dead, police said.
