A man accused of multiple child sex crimes has been extradited back to Arizona to face charges, according to a news release from the Chandler Police Department.

The suspect, Ciro Soberanes Moedano, fled the state while a police investigation was taking place in 2016.

With the help of the U.S. Marshals Service, Soberanes Moedano was located in Mexico and returned to Chandler, according to the press release.

His charges include child molestation and sexual abuse. Prosecution will be handled by the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

The investigation alleges Soberanes Moedano took advantage of his role as a caregiver, allegedly harming a child he was entrusted to protect, police stated in the release.

A cash bond of $500,000 has been set in his case.

Chandler Police stated, in the release, that they'd like to thank the U.S. Marshals Service and the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for their critical roles and support in locating and returning Soberanes Moedano to Arizona.

"These collaborative efforts were instrumental in ensuring accountability and justice for the victim," police wrote. "Protecting the most vulnerable in our community remains one of our highest priorities."
