Man, 59, dies after hours exchanging gunfire with Glendale Police

Neighbors unhurt after suspect barricades in home, opens fire

A man identified Thursday as Jeffery Peters, 59, died Wednesday night after barricading himself inside a Glendale house and exchanging gunfire with Glendale Police for hours.

The man shared the home near 76th and Nicolet avenues — a couple streets north of Glendale Avenue — with his adult daughter until recently, but she had obtained an order of protection against him, which barred him from entering the house.

She was not at home but noticed him trespassing when checking surveillance footage at the house early in the afternoon and called police.
