Manufacturing the diabetes and weight loss drug GLP-1 is a priority for the next phase of the city of Phoenix’s apprenticeship program.
The first phase of the apprenticeship program focused on advanced manufacturing, preparing apprentices for local businesses like the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.
The next phase will focus on the bio manufacturing industry “where we’ll hopefully have regional employers that are producing products like the GLP-1s,” Deputy Community and Economic Development Director LaSetta Hogans told a Phoenix Subcommittee on Wednesday.
