Mercury shooters made it rain from downtown Tuesday night. Thankfully the court stayed dry — enough.
In a game that seemed for a moment like it might not happen due water leaking from the Footprint Center ceiling, the Mercury had their best shooting night of the year, draining 14 of 27 3-pointers, beating the Chicago Sky 103-83.
Thanks to other results earlier in the night, the five-seed Mercury (16-10) clinched a playoff spot. Tuesday’s win over Chicago (14-13) capped a perfect 7-0 month of August for the Mercury after July’s Olympic break.
