M Culinary Concepts has made its largest donation yet of rescued food from the WM Phoenix Open to WasteNot, a nonprofit that diverts rescued food to organizations feeding individuals and families in need.
M Culinary Concepts is the primary caterer behind the highly attended PGA Golf tournament, serving 230,000 attendees over six days. Following the 2023 tournament, which took place at TPC Scottsdale Feb. 9-12, M Culinary Concepts donated 32,752 pounds of food.
Organizations that benefitted from the donations include U.M.O.M., Hemp Legacy Foundation, Resurrection Street Ministries, Palabra de Vida, Doves Watering, Emma Eats, Emanuel Church of God, Fire and Water Church and 2 Ten Church. Items donated included chef-prepared food.
The donations are all part of M Culinary Concepts’ mission to reduce food waste in the catering and hospitality industries.
“While we serve up mass quantities of food during some of the Valley’s biggest events, it’s important for us to remember that not everyone gets their fill of food each day,” Jon Clancy, Director of Culinary Operations at M Culinary Concepts, said in a written statement. “It’s humbling and heartwarming to donate this food to WasteNot, an incredible organization that ensures that hungry people are fed in Arizona and throughout the United States.”
M Culinary Concepts began its partnership with WasteNot in 2014, gradually expanding food rescue operations company-wide and year-round. In 2022, it donated 23,600 pounds from the WM Phoenix Open alone. 2023 donation numbers surpass the previous record by more than 9,000 pounds.
