Lux: Says political process has been corrupted

Posted

In response to Coralyn Collins article regarding Don Scott’s letter, you’ve listed the Democratic platform and said it was the Republican platform (Calls support for candidate ‘underhanded,’” Daily Independent, Sept. 29, 2020). Were you confused?

Health care is in courts at this moment to get rid of the law that forces competition to insurance companies that were prior to the ACA constantly raising prices and yanking benefits, not to mention the benefits that it offers that now all insurance companies have to offer, like covering preexisting conditions like diabetes, cancer, COVID-19, etc. If Mr. Trump’s court case wins, it will do away with the protection from the ACA law and leave us with no plan.

Trump claims he has a plan, but it’s not a law, nor even a proposal that’s been submitted to the governing body that makes laws, Congress.

Funding for schools is done primarily by our homeowners’ taxes, with the state chipping in less and less depending on how much taxes they’re able to collect after GOP constant tax cuts that cut state budgets, which also then cuts police, teachers, paramedics and all state budgets.

Climate change is considered a hoax by Mr. Trump and the agencies that normally would be working on climate change have been gutted by him, along with him pulling out of the climate accord where Obama and Biden managed to get most of the world leaders to a table to create an association to coordinate climate change.

Voting obstacles are a Trump trademark this year during our election considering his hiring of a buddy who donated to his election, mismanagement causing many mail boxes removed in blue states, along with mail sorting machines to help bolster Mr. Trump’s claims that mail-in voting is bad all of a sudden. I personally have a friend in Illinois who said not only did they remove the mail box at the end of her block, but they closed her polling place and now she has to vote in person in a nearby town.

And if “all of the above” are what Joseph Chaplin and Jay Lawrence support as you wrote, I’m happy to hear that great news.

Unfortunately, the GOP doesn’t stand for a Grand Old Party anymore. It’s been corrupted to where there’s no working together, no civil discussion, rallies that are rants and mobs, and even threats of violence.

None of this was true under the Obama-Biden administration.
