Lunch Time Theater returning to Herberger in downtown Phoenix

‘Snow Queen’ opens new season in November

Lunch Time Theater is returning to the Herberger Theater Center in downtown Phoenix.

The unique presentation offers one-act plays lasting 45 to 50 minutes, to which guests can bring a lunch or pre-order one from the Herberger Theater’s caterer when ordering tickets. The 2023-24 season will feature old favorites and new traditions, including dance, drama, musical theater, and narrative nonfiction.

“This season, we utilized audience feedback to curate performances that reflect the unique, diverse, and empowering stories within our communities,” Cescily Wiener, Herberger director of community engagement, shared in a press release. “This innovative curation effort strengthens Lunch Time Theaters commitment to helping new and emerging artists succeed in this industry.”

The Herberger Theater is located at 222 E. Monroe St.

The six-show line-up includes:

  • Frances Smith Cohen’s “Snow Queen,” presented by Center Dance Core: Nov. 27-Dec. 14
  • “In Concert,” presented by Act Two Productions: Jan. 29-Feb. 8
  • “Themes & Variation … A Musical Revue,” presented by SCAN Originals: March 4-14
  • “Two (Little) Old Broads,” presented by Judy Rollings and Sydney Davis: May 6-16
  • “Raised in War: Wounded Childhoods,” presented by New Carpa Theater Co.” May 20-24
  • “Furious Styles: A Journey of Brotherhood, Beats and Dreams,” presented by Furious Styles Crew: June 17-27

The Herberger Theater, built in 1989, is home to three resident performing arts companies: Arizona Opera, Childsplay Theatre, and iTheatre Collaborative.
