Luminarias in Sun City West will continue to shine bright this Christmas Eve after all.
After Sun City West PRIDES was unable to co-sponsor the luminaria program this year, PRIDES president and Sun City West Sunrise Lions member Ralph Johnson reached out to Sun City West Sunrise Lions President David Montgomery to see if the club would be interested in taking over the program, which is co-sponsored by Bob’s Variety, 13583 W Camino Del Sol. Sun City West Sunrise Lions member Laurie Bowen explained Bob’s Variety has been involved in the program for many years and without the support, including materials and storage, the program would not be successful.
“We thought this would be a good project for Lions since we have not been able to do anything other than collect glasses,” Mr. Montgomery explained. “We are also accepting donations, which one of the days I was here we received more donations than people purchased luminarias. We will get busier as we get closer to the holiday.”
