Lucid Motors manufacturing facility to bring 2,000 jobs to Casa Grande

Gov. Doug Ducey and Lucid Motors on Nov. 29 announced the company has selected Casa Grande for its electric car manufacturing operation. The facility will bring more than 2,000 projected new jobs and more than $700 million in capital investment to the region by 2022, according to a press release.
“Lucid Motors’ expansion into Casa Grande is the latest evidence that Arizona leads the nation in attracting innovative technology companies to our state,” Gov. Ducey said in th release. “This project will create thousands of new direct jobs, support many more indirect jobs, and attract new suppliers to the Casa Grande region. I thank Lucid Motors for its commitment to Arizona, as well as Sonora’s Gov. Claudia Pavlovich, Sen. McCain, Sen. Flake, the Arizona Commerce Authority, Pinal County and the city of Casa Grande for the hard work and collaboration that helped make this happen.”
“Lucid Motors’ selection of Casa Grande is the latest in a string of exciting economic development wins this year in Pinal County,” Pinal County Board of Supervisors Chairman Todd House, of Gold Canyon, said in the release. “On behalf of the entire board of supervisors and Pinal County executive staff and employees, I am thrilled to welcome to Lucid Motors to Arizona. We look forward to continuing to work together to help create a prosperous future for both the company and our county.”
Following an extensive search across 13 states and 60 sites, Lucid Motors selected Arizona based on numerous positive factors including business climate, infrastructure, talent, geographic location, and the automotive supply chain in the Arizona-Sonora Megaregion, according to the release.
“Lucid Motors’ announcement today is a testament to what can happen when entrepreneurs and elected officials come together to create new and exciting economic opportunities,” said Sonora Gov. Pavlovich. “This major investment will generate a steady stream of career opportunities and capital for the Arizona-Sonora Megaregion—a perfect example of the relationship that Gov. Ducey and I have envisioned for our two states. I want to thank everyone on our team who worked for months to make this vision a lasting and fruitful reality.”
“The support and engagement from state leadership and the business community in Arizona throughout this process has been incredible,” Brian Barron, Lucid Motor’s director of global manufacturing, said in the release. “Arizona’s pro-business environment, readiness of the site, and available talent will allow us to get up and running quickly. We’re very excited to be bringing new jobs and our innovative technology to Casa Grande.”
Development of the site is slated to begin in the second quarter of 2017 as Lucid completes its site planning and permitting processes. Hiring is also expected to begin during 2017. The company will work with the state to prepare veterans for jobs and intends to hire a large contingent of veterans into its workforce. Cars are expected to be in production in the factory towards the end of 2018.

“The new Lucid Motors facility will create of thousands of new manufacturing and technology jobs for hardworking Arizonans, generate significant capital investment and enhance wage growth in the Casa Grande community,” Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona), said in the release. “I applaud Gov. Doug Ducey and his team for their efforts to bring this innovative company to our state.”
“Lucid Motors’ decision to bring its manufacturing operation to Casa Grande is excellent news for the region and Arizona’s economy,” U.S. Senator Jeff Flake (R-Arizona), said in the release. “I thank Lucid Motors for their confidence in our state, and applaud the company’s emphasis on training and hiring veterans.”
“Following a lengthy competitive process, Arizona has once again demonstrated that our value proposition resonates strongly with modern technology businesses searching for a location to scale and succeed,” Sandra Watson, Arizona Commerce Authority president and CEO, said in the release. “The decision by Lucid Motors to locate in Arizona will enhance our growing reputation as a premier location for automotive technology. I thank Lucid Motors for their selection of Arizona, and thank Gov. Ducey for his leadership as well as Senator McCain, Senator Flake, Pinal County, and the City of Casa Grande for participating in the collective effort to land this project in Arizona.”
