Lt. Col. US Army Parker (Bill) Fredericks

Lt. Col. (Ret) US Army Parker (Bill) Fredericks, passed away on April 16, 2017 at the age of 96. He grew up in the small town of Midvale, NJ, the oldest of three children to Parker and Lulu Fredericks.He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He leaves behind his wife Judith and four sons and one daughter: Jeffrey (Carol), Brian (Diane), Paul (Kathy), Diane (Fred) and Bruce ( Linda), ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.Bill was drafted in the army and went to Officers Candidate School where he was commissioned as a second lieutenant. He fought in the invasion of Normandy and spent the war in Europe. He returned home a captain and, at first attended a small college in New Jersey where he met Judy. After graduating from Lehigh University, he and Judy were married. He reentered the Army in 1949 and spent twenty-six years including Korea. One of his assignments was Professor of Military Science (ROTC) at Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute Brooklyn, New York where he received his Master's degree. He also attended Columbia University at night and earned an advance degree in Education.After retiring from the Army, he spent fifteen years as Dean of Administration at Bristol Community College in Fall River, Massachusetts. While there he was responsible for designing and building a new campus. They also traveled extensively including a three month Fulbright scholarship to India.He and Judy retired in 1984 and moved to Sun City West, a new retirement community in Arizona. One of his favorite activities was lawn bowling in which he excelled. After thirty- four years they sold their house and moved again to an apartment in The Heritage Tradition also in Sun City West.He will be buried in the military cemetery in Cave Creek, AZ with full military honors.
