Slight chances of rain are in store through the weekend after a bounty of rain hit a wide swath of the Valley on Wednesday night, according to Gabriel Lojero, a meteorologist from the National Weather Service in Phoenix.
Over several hours, some areas from central Phoenix to Glendale received a half inch to an inch of rain Wednesday over a span of about six hours, the meteorologist said.
The Valley’s monsoon typically nets about 2 inches of rain, on average. So far, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has seen about 0.68 inches of rain for the entire monsoon season this year. Monsoon season runs from June 15 through Sept. 30.

“It’s still way below normal (for rain),” Lojero said.
This monsoon, residents have seen more dust than rain. On Aug. 25, a haboob dust storm covered parts of the Valley and there were reports of trees being uprooted which damaged some Valley homes.
On Wednesday, Arizona Public Service Co. reported less than 100 customers who lost power at any point during the storm and Salt River Project had no reported outages from Valley customers.
Officials are forecasting lower temps over the next few days with highs in the mid 90s, the meteorologist said.
Starting Sunday, there is “virtually zero” chance of rain through early next week.
