If there are tears in Heaven, she will have a Water Aerobics class in Heaven. I Love and miss you Mom! This is a reprinting of a tribute that the Aquatics Club of Sun City made to Louise in 2013, so that you may see her dedication to so many people of SUN CITY, through the years. HONORING LOUISE MEYER – MARCH 20, 2013 Every club has its kingpin who was instrumental in getting it functioning. In the case of the Aqua Fitness Club, Louise Meyer was the moving force. Today, we'd like to honor Louise for her contributions since the club's inception in 1975. The founder of a water aerobics class in Sun City was Verona Hiland. Ten members enrolled and Louise was one of them. In 1988 a video was filmed at the Sundial small pool and Louise demonstrated the exercises. These became mandatory viewing for all instructor and helpers. In 1993 when an exercise class for swimmers was started, Louise helped develop a program for the class which was titled Aqua Floats and Stretches. She was the instructor until the class was terminated. In November 2000 the club was saddened to learn that Louise was diagnosed with colon cancer. After 6 months of chemo therapy, our Southern Belle was back teaching her classes. In 2002 Louise's self-taught computer knowledge enabled her, with the assistance of the instructors, to produce in one week-end a different exercise program than the one used for years which had been withdrawn by the originator. Several years later, using Louise's expertise a new program was developed for the club using commercial tapes by Billie Joe. These free standing exercises were very successful and are being used today. It was common knowledge that if there was a question involving anything in the club, Louise had the answer. She worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that the Aqua Fitness Club was running smoothly and fulfilling its commitment to provide low impact water exercises. In March 2004 Louise retired as an instructor, however, for a while she continued as a substitute and helper in various classes. She also became a member of the Executive Board serving in the area of technical support. Louise, on behalf of the 900 plus members of the Aqua Fitness Club, the Board of Directors would like to present you with a Certificate of Appreciation for your hard work, dedication and loyal support of the club. Louise asked that there be no funeral services and the burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: The American Cancer Society.
