Loren H. Uthoff, Sr., 90, went home to be with Jesus on October 9th. He was born in Garrison, IA, on October 15, 1927 to Victor and Leora Uthoff.Victor was an automobile mechanic but during the difficult depression years moved several times. Eventually they settled in Mason City where Loren graduated from high school, immediately enlisting in the U.S. Navy. After discharge from the service he attended Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK where he met and married Nona Cole in 1950.His vocation was that of airline mechanic and fight engineer for TWA. His avocation was restoration of antique and sports cars, antique bicycles, and building model airplanes.His working life was punctuated by frequent moves due to transfers and lay-offs but he always found a church for the family after locating housing and good schools for their children.He loved the Lord Jesus. His most quoted scriptures were John 3:16 and Proverbs 3:5,6. His children and grandchildren heard many times his simple advice: "Do what is right" and "If you make a mistake, don't do it again".He is survived by his wife, Nona; his children, Loren (Theresa), Linda (Kurt), and David (Lee); grandchildren: Laura, Andrew, Jonathan, Daniel, Emily, Ross and Aaron; and great-grandchildren: Marc, Ty, Ella and William; brothers, Richard (Sylvia) and Herb.
