SANTE FE, N.M. - On Monday, March 14, 2011, Lois Audrey McGee Van Dyk passed away peacefully at her home in Santa Fe, N.M. Lois is survived by her sister, Margaret Keenan (Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada); her three sons, Thomas and Jane Van Dyk of Billings, Mont., David Van Dyk of Galisteo, N.M., Paul and Laura Van Dyk of Madison, Wis.; and her two daughters, Gretchen Van Dyk, and Robert Sietsema of New York, N.Y.; and Margaret Van Dyk of Santa Fe, N.M. Lois is also survived by her twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly, as well as her wonderful friends from the Southwest. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Lt. Col. William C. Van Dyk; and her sister, Dorothy Correy of British Columbia, Canada. She will be greatly missed for her love, beauty, strength of character, wisdom and creative spirit. She taught us all the importance of graciousness, continued education and travel, leaving her hometown of Sault Ste. Marie to spend a lifetime traveling the world. Lois spent the last twenty five years of her life in the openness of the Southwest. Lois' ashes will be buried beside her husband this summer in a family gathering in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Memorial donations to further Alzheimer's research being supported by the Alzheimer's Foundation will be greatly appreciated by the family.
