The holiday season is also a season of giving. Schools in Scottsdale Unified School District and Paradise Valley are making a direct impact on their communities this December, particularly Desert Mountain High School.
A few schools and student governments have put together toy and food drives, including Cheyenne Traditional School, Hopi Elementary, Redfield Elementary and Hohokam Elementary.
Holiday cards are going to Phoenix Children’s Hospital from Kiva Elementary School, a project its student council is sponsoring. Each class will decorate 10 cards to be delivered the week before winter break, according to Kristine Harrington, SUSD director of communications and marketing.
