Construction is coming fairly soon for Glendale’s Downtown Campus Reinvestment Project and the city teamed up with small business leaders to assist downtown merchants.
Local First Arizona partnered with the city in January to give workshops to businesses on how to handle the construction phase. During an Oct. 24 council workshop, Glendale Economic Development Director Jessi Pederson said Local First used all 150 hours working with independently owned businesses in its first contract with Glendale.
As work begins soon on the $94 million project scheduled to finish near the end of 2025, a second proposed agreement with Local First Arizona — to be voted on by council at its Nov. 28 meeting — ramps up the small business assistance during the construction phase.
