Local cancer survivor honored at Goodyear Ballpark

Breast cancer survivor Angela Onodera-Jimenez of Goodyear was honored during the Home Run for Life celebration March 8 at Goodyear Ballpark during a spring training game between the Cincinnati Reds and the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The recognition was organized by City of Hope Cancer Center Phoenix in partnership with Goodyear Ballpark. The Home Run for Life program recognizes individuals who have undergone cancer treatment.

Onodera-Jimenez was diagnosed in October 2023 during a routine medical exam with a rare form of breast cancer along with signs of metastatic disease. She sought treatment at City of Hope Cancer Center Phoenix, where she received care from a multidisciplinary medical team led by Cynthia Lynch, medical director of the center’s breast program.
