Local author publishes first book

Poems for her granddaughter

A local author starts writing with her granddaughter in mind, but now grandparents and expecting mothers have the chance to read “A Grandma’s Heart.”

Debra Derenne, Sun City West author, said it was the Holy Spirit who inspired her to write poems for her first granddaughter before she was even born. It was a way for her to speak to her granddaughter.

“I wrote 163 poems from Mother’s Day 2017 until January 2018, when the baby was born,” Derenne said.
