Litchfield council awards $416,000 repaving contract

Perimeter wall on hold after bid comes in at $300,00 over budget

Motorists who regularly drive Litchfield Road between Wigwam Boulevard and Camelback Road will experience delays beginning in December as crews from Nesbitt Contracting Co. resurface the roadway.

City Engineer Woody Scoutten said Nov. 23 he didn’t have a hard date for construction, but said once contracts are signed, which could happen as early as the first week of December, the Tempe-based company can begin work. It will take about two months to complete.

The Litchfield Park City Council voted unanimously during its regular virtual meeting Nov. 18 to approved Mr. Scoutten’s recommendation to award Nesbitt a $416,911 contract for the work. The company’s bid, one of six submitted to the city, is well under the $500,000 budgeted for the project. Other bids submitted ranged from $424,259 to $637,559.
