Litchfield Park introduces recreational marijuana ordinance

Final vote set for April 21

Recreational marijuana establishments and testing facilities will only be allowed in Litchfield Park’s Monument Point Business Park under an ordinance introduced during the City Council’s regular virtual meeting March 17.

After a public hearing during which no one spoke, the council voted unanimously to introduce the ordinance and schedule a final vote when it meets in regular virtual session at 7 p.m. April 21.

If approved, it will amend the city’s zoning code to include recreational marijuana, relegating both recreational and medical marijuana facilities to areas zoned for industrial use. It also will update current medical marijuana regulations to include recreational marijuana and establishes regulations for primary residences.
