Litchfield Park approves $180K historic cottage restoration

The Litchfield Park City Council has approved $180,370 to fund the exterior restoration of two historic founder’s cottages at La Loma Park, advancing a long-term plan to revitalize the former winter retreat of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. executive Paul W. Litchfield.

The council voted to award the contract to Waltz Construction for exterior updates on Cottages No. 2 and 3, the latter historically known as Paul Litchfield’s personal office. The budget includes a 10% contingency drawn from a previously authorized $2.5 million allocation for the first phase of the park's hilltop improvements.

City staff recommended Waltz Construction because the firm is already on-site handling the adjacent main house project, citing lower mobilization costs and familiarity with the property. Officials said the current scope of work is meant to beautify the structures ahead of a wave of regional developments opening on the hill.
