Litchfield Park approves $11.5M inflation-remedy bond for Square

City manager previously estimated $23 million was needed due to inflation

The Litchfield Park City Council approved an $11.5 million bond for Litchfield Square to supplement inflation and unforeseen cost increases.

The project is the city’s attempt at creating a downtown core, which will be on the east side of Litchfield Road, north of Wigwam Boulevard. However, the project met a standstill after costs rose 60% from $25 million to $40 million, according to April meeting minutes.

According to City Manager Matthew Williams in April, he estimated $20 million was needed to finish just the infrastructure.
