Litchfield Elementary district approves social emotional learning training trip

Litchfield Elementary School District governing board approved on Tuesday a trip for school staff to attend a social emotional learning training seminar.

In recent years, SEL has been controversial in conservative circles because Republican Party leaders, like Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction Thomas Horne, painting it as a gateway into critical race theory.

According to the Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning, SEL is a process where learners acquire and apply the skills to develop healthy identities, manage emotions, cultivate empathy and establish supportive relationships.
