Democrat Sarah Liguori, a Phoenix resident, has been appointed as the new representative for Legislative District 28, which includes the Town of Paradise Valley.
Liguori was appointed by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors on Oct. 18, from a list of three candidates. In September, former District 28 Rep. Aaron Lieberman vacated the seat to pursue a campaign for Arizona governor in the Nov. 8, 2022, general election.
Arizona law requires Maricopa County supervisors to appoint someone from the same party as the seat they’re filling. The LD28 Democrats sent three names to the board for the consideration; the other two candidates were Ginger Sykes Torres and Laura Terech.
