Light rail stop named for Creighton University's Phoenix campus

A light rail station near Creighton University’s Phoenix campus has been renamed for the university.

University, city and local transit leaders gathered on Friday, Feb. 20 to rename the station at Thomas Road and Central Avenue to the “Creighton University” station. The name is a Point of Interest name, as Valley Metro refers to it, which had previously been “Midtown.” The station still has additional signage that says “Thomas/Central Ave.”

Phoenix District 4 City Councilmember Laura Pastor, who is also chair of the Valley Metro Board of Directors, highlighted the change during a city council meeting this week.
