Liberty Elementary District staff said increased retention and recruiting stems from its new four-day workweek policy during a governing board meeting Monday.
Stephanie Mohorne, assistant superintendent of support services, said the district projects to only have one full-time teaching position vacant by the start of the school year. The improvement contrasts with last year’s numbers when the district had 7.5 vacancies heading into the school year.
“One thing that I think is really evident is that the four-day workweek is really enticing, and that's really a reason why we are getting especially teachers to choose our district,” Mohorne said. “I mean, look at our new teacher orientation that we had last week, we had almost 90 new teachers that chose to come to Liberty when they could have chosen any district in the West Valley.”
