Lewis: Letter calling for Dems to repent was judgmental, hateful
Responding to David Postgate’s recent Letters to the Editor (“Postgate: God will eternally damn the evil Democrats,” YourValley.net, Oct. 26, 2021), he states that his “religious upbringing” as a Christian “pays dividends.” What dividends would those be?
His rant was mean-spirited and narrow-minded at best, but exposed his deep-seated opinions that are hate-filled and judgmental.

He labels Democrats in the government “devils” with “evil spewing from their mouths,” and then pronounces that “Hell waits for them.”
Mr. Postgate, I was raised in the Christian faith, also, but I learned that love, not hatred for others, is the key to living a good and godly life, and that God alone reserves the right to judge your, or my, actions on earth. I’m quite certain that the right has not been delegated to you. Your closing shot, “May God have mercy on their souls. Repent,” is a clear indication that you have decided differently.
The strength of our government is in the diverse and often conflicting opinions of well-meaning, duly-elected representatives. I don’t like a lot of what you undoubtedly favor, but your inability to envision a future for all, without condemning half of the good individuals serving in our government, requires a tolerance of others’ sincerely held views, which you clearly do not possess.
