LESD student wins Avondale’s ‘Avi Star’ award

A fifth-grader in the Litchfield Elementary School District was given Avondale’s ‘Avi Star Award,’ and was personally congratulated by the city’s mayor, Kenneth Weise at a city council meeting.

Faye Smalley, who attends Corte Sierra Elementary School, was nominated by her teacher Diana DeClue.

“Faye is part of our student council and always demonstrates kindness on campus,” DeClue said. “She works hard every day and is a role model for our students.”
