LeRoy Gerstner, 76LeRoy "Satch" Gerstner, 76, of Surprise, Arizona died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007 at his home after a long illness. He was born January 23, 1931 in Hays, Kansas to Joe L. Gerstner and Sophia (Schuetz) Gerstner. He is a veteran of the Korean War, a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and a life member of the VFW.He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Alice Marie, who resides at their home in Surprise; four sons, Mark Gerstner and wife Lisa of Surprise; Joe Gerstner and wife Cecilia of Chicago; Stephen Gerstner of Washington D.C., Michael Gerstner of New York City; two daughters, Barbara Smith and husband Burton of Clovis, N.M.; and Mary Fitzhugh and husband Alan of Las Vegas, Nev.; and 14 grandchildren. Survivors also include his sisters Mary Agnes Schmidt and husband Harold of Topeka, Kansas; Lillian Rohr and husband Julie of Hays; and brothers Dennis Gerstner of Hays; and James Gerstner and wife Martha of Lee Summit, Mo. He was preceeded in death by his parents.The funeral took place Oct. 15 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City West. Mr. Gerstner was interred Oct. 17 at the National Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix.
