Leigh Allison Hann - 5/29/1931 to 1/26/2019Leigh Allison Hann passed away peacefully on January 26th surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 29, 1931 to John Howard and Ethel Allison. She spent her early years in St. Paul, Minnesota as the daughter of a University of Minnesota Professor. She graduated from the University of Minnesota and attended the Columbia University Graduate School of Social Work where she focused on assisting the underprivileged. She met and married J. David Hann in 1954, starting a 65-year lifelong love affair that produced 4 sons: Peter (Megan), Jim (Julia), Andrew (Deborah) and Jonathan (Cindy); and 10 grandchildren she was so proud of: Callie (Rhett), Emily, Cullen, Jennifer, Haley (James), Andrea, Mallory, Kimberly, Connor and Caitlyn. She had 1 great-grandson, Whitlow James. In addition to her family and husband, Leigh had many passions. She was an avid reader, especially of books on history and art. Her love of art was exemplified by her 20+ years as a docent at the Phoenix Art Museum. She and David raised Boxer dogs and she always made room for one or two Boxers in their home. Leigh also loved to travel and never missed a chance to visit a new place. Everyone who knew her was aware of her love of gardening and she created a botanical paradise out of her home in the desert. Leigh was a beautiful woman who was always up for an adventure, especially if it involved her grandkids. She had many lifelong friends from all facets of her life, and it was very important to her to stay in close contact with them. Leigh was a compassionate, non-judgmental, graceful woman who set a high bar for the Hann family. A celebration of life was held at the Church of the Beatitudes, 555 W. Glendale Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85021 on February 2nd, 2019. Please direct donations to the Desert Botanical Garden and plant a flower in her memory.
