The new fiscal year began for the American Legion Post 94 in Sun City West, with the installation of new appointed officers. Gary Vaughn, District 11 commander, swore in the officers, which will begin serving at the start of next month.
Danielle Osborne, City of Surprise human services and community Vitality commission, spoke to the group covering what veteran services are provided by the state through that office. Counseling on veteran Benefits and other services are available. She also said volunteers are always needed and appreciated to support the St. Mary’s Food Bank.
Post 94 will work to support the food bank in the near future. In addition, the members approved to provide financial help to a local disabled veteran. In lieu of financial help, Post 94 officials provided, through the generosity of Sun City West Foundation Helping Hands, a wheeled-walker to the veteran to meet immediate mobility needs.
Post 94 members meet monthly at 10 a.m. on the first Thursday, at the Sun City West Foundation Building, Grand Canyon Room, 14465 W. R.H. Johnson Blvd. All veterans are welcome, as the American Legion is committed to supporting all veterans.
