Legendary Phoenix blues club prepares for its last encore

The Rhythm Room will close in May after a 35-year run, ending a remarkable chapter in Valley music history while Bob Corritore keeps playing

Arguably the greatest and most impactful blues chapter in Phoenix history is drawing to a close, but there is good news.

Longtime Valley blues musician Bob Corritore – who is as much as steward of blues history as he is one of the world’s most in-demand harmonica players – announced Wednesday that The Rhythm Room, an authentic blues joint located on Indian School Road that first opened in 1991, will close its doors in 10 months.

“After 35-plus fantastic years of running the Rhythm Room, I have decided to retire the club and enter into the next chapter of my life,” Corritore, who turns 70 in September, wrote in a statement. “The plan is to close the Rhythm Room on May 30, 2027, and to have a glorious final season this fall, winter, and spring. We will have numerous amazing shows, and we hope that you will celebrate the legendary legacy of this Phoenix music institution in our last run.”
