Legal ground solid for college vaccine mandates

Public health in past has trumped individual rights, experts say

When Rutgers University announced in late March it would require all students to receive the COVID-19 vaccine before stepping foot on its New Jersey campus this fall, it became the first university to do so. Since then, a handful of schools have followed suit, including Cornell University and Notre Dame University.

The mandate, just like much of the ever-changing rules surrounding the pandemic, is brand-new and rife with questions.

Namely, is it legal?
