Water Trouble

Legal battle percolates amid Scottsdale pulling Rio Verde water rights

Drought problems continue to plague the Rio Verde Foothills community with residents filing a lawsuit against the city of Scottsdale after water was officially cut off on Jan. 1 to around 500 homes.

The city remains steadfast it is on the right side of the law as officials believe the city is not responsible for Rio Verde.

Local and national publications have covered this ongoing issue in this small community of 4,200 parcels of land. The over-500-parcels affected continue to fight for a permanent water supply and come to an agreement with state government and opponents from the community.
