Legal battle over Axon’s Scottsdale site continues

The political action committee Taxpayers Against Awful Apartment Zoning Exemptions is not out of the fight over the 600 apartments and 600 condos planned as part of the taser maker Axon’s world headquarters campus planned for north Scottsdale.

TAAAZE is appealing Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Michael Herrod’s ruling that state legislation allowing the campus to go up near the intersection of N. Hayden Road and the Loop 101, Senate Bill 1543, is constitutional.

The political action committee filed with the Arizona Court of Appeals on Sept. 23, claiming the legislation, also known as the “Axon Bill” too narrowly written to be constitutional. In other words, it says the legislation was a “special interest bill” written solely to advance Axon’s plans when the Arizona Constitution requires bills to be more general.
