R.H. Johnson Library monthly presenters

The first lecture series is 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 26, at the Stardust Theatre, 14401 R.H. Johnson Blvd. Doors open at 12:30 p.m.. Tickets are not required. The 2022 series will host new topics the last Wednesday of each month. The library has hosted the programming to provide educational opportunities to the community, which is funded by Friends of the R.H. Johnson Library.

The presentations will be given by outside and local individuals. The topics will be historical, health, travel, Recreation Centers of Sun City West or educational. Tracy Skousen, R.H. Johnson library director, said most of the series will be at the lecture hall at R.H. Johnson Recreation Center, 19803 R.H. Johnson Blvd. 

This month’s presented is nationally recognized Abraham Lincoln presenter and historian John Voehl, who will present the Gettysburg Address and the rest of the story. Based in the Denver area, Voehl has shared more than 1,560 living history experiences in 49-states, including more than 300 seniors’ groups. Learn of Lincoln’s decision to change commanders just before the battle at Gettysburg, his prayer, vow and consecration. Learn about the battle, the cemetery dedication, Lincoln’s few appropriate remarks and several of Lincoln’s stories that arose during his trip.
