Learn what it takes to be a Peoria firefighter

The Peoria Fire‐Medical Youth Firefighter Academy will be July 10-13.

The free academy is open to young men and women ages 17-19 interested in finding out what it takes to become a firefighter.

Applications are due by June 9.

Topics include educational opportunities, vehicle extrication, search and rescue rappelling, hose stream management, ladder operations, team building, physical training, engine company operations, communications, and use of personal protective equipment.

Lunch will be provided each day along with an academy t‐shirt.

Each participant will be assigned a personal set of firefighting gear
for use during the academy.
