Learn more about the Active Early Voting List

Posted

It is election season and time to review your voter information.

On May 11, 2021, Gov. Doug Ducey signed into law Senate Bill 1485, amending the requirements for Arizona voters to remain on the Permanent Early Voting List. The Secretary of State has since renamed the list to Active Early Voting List.

What changed with the new law?

The list is no longer permanent.

The law requires the removal of a voter from the AEVL if "the voter fails to vote an early ballot in all elections for two consecutive election cycles" and does not respond to notification from the recorder’s office.

If a voter is removed from the AEVL, he/she is still registered to vote but he/she will not receive an early ballot. The voter may still submit a ballot by mail request or sign up for the AEVL at any time.

The last day to register to receive a ballot by mail is July 22 for the primary election and Oct. 28 for the general election.
