Leadership in the time of the novel coronavirus took on many forms at the Scottsdale Unified School District, officials there say. But one constant remained through it all: Flexibility.
“We have learned many lessons as a result of our team here at Scottsdale Unified School District having to navigate the pandemic during the past year, so it isn’t easy to identify just one,” said Superintendent Dr. Scott Menzel, who is in his first full year as head of the premiere public education entity.
“First, and likely most important, is that it is essential to be nimble and prepared to respond to emerging information. There were multiple iterations of our ‘Return to Learn Plan’ for the beginning of the school year as we received feedback from our staff and parents and reviewed guidance from public health officials.”
