ELECTIONS 2024

LD13 debate covers ESAs, water, youth safety, more

After an Oct. 10 debate that revealed three candidates are on the same page on most issues, one state Legislature candidate reflected on the topics covered and other aspects of the online event.

Nick Gonzales is one of five candidates on the ballot in the race for the two House seats from Legislative District 13, most of which is in Chandler. He and fellow Democratic Party candidate Brandy Reese accepted invites to Arizona Clean Elections’ online Oct. 10 debate, as did Green Party candidate Cody Hannah.

Gonzales said he appreciated the Q&A format of the Clean Elections event. He said Hannah hadn’t RSVPed for the event, so he and Reese expected they’d be the only ones interviewed by moderator Steve Goldstein.
