The Maricopa County Department of Public Health has confirmed one new measles case, and the person was at two locations in Queen Creek and Mesa.
The total number of confirmed measles cases in Maricopa County for 2026 is now 15.
People at the following times and locations may have been exposed to the virus:
Arizona Athletic Grounds, building A, 6321 S. Ellsworth Road, Mesa, 3-9 p.m. May 5; 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. May 6; 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. May 7.
Pecan Lake Entertainment, 25004 S. 206th St., Queen Creek, 6-9 p.m. May 6.
Club Dance Recital, 22149 E. Ocotillo Road, Queen Creek, 3:30-10:45 p.m. May 8.
The measles virus can survive in the air for up to two hours, health officials said.
Symptoms typically appear seven to 12 days after exposure but may take up to 21 days. They include:
- High fever (101 degrees or higher)
- Red, watery eyes
- Cough
- Runny nose
- A rash that is red, raised and blotchy
The rash begins after other symptoms, usually on the face at the hairline and moves down the body.
