Two of the Valley’s biggest water users have sought to craft pathways to help them be stewards of one of Arizona’s most important commodities.
The users — Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. and the city of Phoenix — are trying to be leaders in tackling methods in proper ways to use and recycle water amid ongoing mandated water cuts from the U.S. Department of the Interior.
An estimated 40 million people use water from the Colorado River in seven states and in Mexico. For Arizona, addressing the drought means the state first faced 2023 water cuts to the tune of 21% of the state’s annual apportionment of Colorado River water, according to a press release from the U.S. Department of the Interior.
