Large U.S. flag in Apache Junction to be funded by groups

Flatiron Park, focal point, Veterans’ Memorial Park sites considered

Work is progressing on a residents- and organizations-led effort to fund, display and maintain a giant U.S. flag in the city of Apache Junction.

After local resident Mike Parr brought up the idea during an August 2020 meeting, the City Council and advisory boards met several times to discuss the project for a 50-foot by 80-foot flag along with the design, engineering, construction, lighting and ongoing maintenance of it and a pole.

The council was updated on the project’s progress at a recent work session, including that it may be a 30-foot by 50-foot flag depending on the size of the pole.
