Special use permit

Large barn OK’d for Lehi property in Mesa

The aggregate area of detached structures may exceed 100% of the roof area of a primary dwelling east of Stapley Drive and north of Lehi Road, the Mesa Board of Adjustment decided recently.

The board on Oct. 5 voted 4-0 to approve a special use permit for the dwelling in a single residence zoning district as part of a consent agenda with other items. Board members Adam Gunderson, Chris Jones and Heath Reed were absent.

The seven-member board conducts public meetings to hear and decide requests for variances, special-use permits and interpretations of the city of Mesa zoning ordinance and sign code. Members are appointed for staggered terms of three years, according to the city’s website.
