Lake next big-ticket item in Sun City

Slow leak must be fixed

It has been brewing for years and now Recreation Centers of Sun City officials must address the slow leak at Viewpoint Lake.

The leak was discovered several years ago and officials have researched options for a fix ever since. But now that Arizona Department of Water Resources officials are gearing up to upgrade their management plans, the time has come to fish or cut bait.

Bill Cook, RCSC general manager, said during an RCSC board planning meeting ADWR is operating under the third management plan but will implement the fourth management plan June 1, 2023 and go to the fifth management plan Jan. 1, 2025. He added the fourth management plan will call for a 6% reduction in water use on RCSC golf courses and the fifth management plan comes with a further 7% reduction.
