LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Lady Luck smiled on Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday night in Las Vegas.
Not able to find their usual scoring touch, Phoenix used a second-half penalty kick to jump start their offense on the way to a 2-0 shutout victory over Las Vegas Lights FC at Cashman Field.
The successful penalty kick by Junior Flemmings in the 53rd minute was all the offense Rising needed as the defense did its job all night and goalkeeper Zac Lubin registered the clean sheet to move his team to 7-2-2 this season, good for 23 points in USL Championship Group B. Rising leads both LA Galaxy II and Orange County by 5 points with the top two finishers in the group moving to the postseason.
