Lack of downtown Scottsdale parking a source of contention among neighbors

They say good fences make for good neighbors but in downtown Scottsdale it’s all about the parking spaces.

Pretty much everyone agrees there is a lack of parking in the downtown area and that leads to competition among neighboring shops, said Blen Shipp, owner of Santa Rosa Management, which owns over a dozen properties in the downtown area.

“It’s a real challenge for customers there,” Shipp said. “It’s a real challenge for the merchants because they all have employees and the employees have to park somewhere. Feathers get ruffled between tenants, you know, ‘Your employees are taking up spaces my customers could be using.’”
