Kvaran: Support for Lamon candidacy is almost ‘laughable’
A recent letter to the editor by Charles Masino, (“Wants Lamon for GOP Senate primary win,” Daliy Independent, June 30, 2022), extolling the virtues of Arizona Senate candidate Jim Lamon made it sound as if he should be considered for sainthood; but we can discuss the theological implications later.
For now, let’s stick with the political overtones.

Two statements in the letter immediately set off warning flashes in me: “Jim is a 2020 presidential elector” and “he donated 10% of his company profits ($7 million dollars).”
What my research about the first claim revealed is that Lamon was one of the Republican electors offered up by Rep. Debbie Lesko and friends as replacements for the legitimately elected Democratic electors during the January 6 attempt to overturn the 2020 election.
And then there is the $7 million donated, but the letter does not say donated to whom. Again, what I have been able to discover is he donated to the farcical Maricopa County election audit in which “Big Steal” proponents were hired to prove that the election was rigged or fixed or something. We all remember how that turned out.
The Republican Party has always labeled itself as the “Law & Order” party, so picking someone for a Senate nomination with as much questionable baggage as Jim Lamon seems almost laughable. Almost.
