Kvaran: Response to Sandefur commentary

While reading along with Tim Sandefur’s commentary “It turns out the pie is not in the sky” mostly nodding in agreement, I was drawn up short by what I considered to be a major omission.

When Sandefur enumerates the reasons why an elected official might waste public tax monies on the schemes he is discussing, he did not mention the two reasons that immediately came to my mind, campaign contributions and outright bribery.

Noticing that Sandefur is with the Goldwater Institute’s legal department suggests to me that perhaps he did not want to get sued and I am not sure what the institute’s policy on disclosing campaign donations is, which might explain that omission.
